Marcelo Portella
Marcelo Portella is a Brazilian outdoor photographer, also a photography teacher. He organize photo expeditions in Brazil and around the world since 2003, traveling to more than 75 countries. Among his international experience, we can mention more than 15 expeditions to Iceland and places like Tibet, Iran, Bhutan, Vietnam, Lofoten, India, Morocco, several North American parks, Provence and Tuscany. In Brazil, prominent places include: Lençóis Maranhenses, Jalapão and Chapada Diamantina. For 20 years he directed and taught classes at a photography school in Rio de Janeiro, Visual Arts, and is currently the director of Dreamscapes Expedições Fotográficas. His work consists of organizing Photo Courses and Expeditions with the main objective of teaching and promoting the practice of photography for amateurs and / or professionals. He participated in and organized several lectures and photo exhibitions during this period. In 2017, he received 3 awards from the Epson Pano Awards, 2 Bronze and 1 Silver Award, in 2018 he was among the top 50 in the world in the Landscapes category at the Sony World Photography Awards, participating in the Exhibition in London. In 2020 he was invited to be part of the “Grandes Fotógrafos do Brasil” collection, a project by Fotografe Melhor magazine, the largest photography magazine in Latin America, work that generated a series of books in which each of the 12 selected photographers had their work published and Portella took the landscape photography theme. In 2021, he won the 2nd prize in the landscape category at the “Grande Premio Fotografe” award, and an honorable mention in the Essays category (in landscape photography), also being in the book catalogue. He is currently a collaborator of Fotografe Melhor Magazine, contributing with more than 8 articles for the magazine, and has written articles for other Photo Magazines.
