We have chosen the name Cobogó Brazilian Design as our brand, because of its connection with what we are seeking for: a traditional design element with a functional and aesthetic appeal that consists in a blend of various cultures.

Cobogó is a Brazilian architectural design module used to build creative walls or partitions, which allow the entry of natural light and ventilation into buildings and courtyards. It draws a diversity of shadows on the floors and walls transforming the entire environment. Cobogó appeared in the 1920s in Recife and took its name from the junction of the first syllables of the surnames of its creators, the Portuguese Amadeu Oliveira Coimbra, the German Ernesto August Boeckmann and the Brazilian Antônio de Góis.

Cobogó has also its heritage from the Arab culture, based on the mosharabi elements being as diverse, plural and multifaceted as the Brazilian art and arts crafts are.

Our Story

While our origins lie in Brazil and Switzerland, we now move internationally. And design, craftmanship, and travel, are the passions we share.

We felt the demand and necessity of a proper representation of Brazilian design and craftsmanship abroad and decided to take up this challenge.

The diversity of Brazilian culture and the enormous creative capacity of local artisans and designers

motivate and inspire us to tell their stories around the world.

What moves the company?

The idea is to disseminate, sell and relate through products, creators, and their stories.
